Someone was making feeders for hungry titmouses in the winter season, someone was feeding pigeons and squirrels in the park, of course, someone in his early childhood did his own and starling houses-birdhouses. In this article, we show step by step the manufacturing of a birdhouse.
What can I do from a birdhouse?
The bird house can be made, in fact, from anything - from a quality board, from simple plywood, from ordinary particleboard, cardboard , some even manage to make a birdhouse from a plastic bottle. We will take up the manufacture of a birdhouse in its classical sense - from natural good boards.
So, in order to make a good, quality birdhouse with our own hands, we need this:
- good boards, we chose pine, based on good strength characteristics and relatively low cost; the area of the material is determined based on the desired size of the birdhouse;
- thin nails 3-4 mm in diameter, not more than; since they often bend at the wrong time, we take from the stock of pieces of 30;
- a hammer;
- pliers.

How to make a birdhouse by yourself - making
- First, we cut out all the blanks for making a birdhouse. The number of parts of the birdhouse and their dimensions are shown in the drawing.
- Now we begin to collect our creation. We take two side walls and one anterior one (which has an aperture), add it as needed and begin fixing it with nails in the corners. We recommend working with gloves - if the tree is not polished, it is easy to drive yourself a splinter.
- Further we raise our design and make an elementary check for strength. If necessary (and often it is necessary), we slaughter a few more nails along the edge of the front wall.
- Now we put the future birdhouse with the front wall down, take the blanks for the bottom and back wall and collect the structure
- Fix nails and get a "box" of the birdhouse.
- Then again we make an elementary check, whether our construction is unsteady, whether it is strong enough. If it is necessary, we will score another couple of nails along the perimeter.
- Now we need to make an adaptation, which the bird could sit down, before flying into its new house. You can nail down a board or a thin bar, you can do without it at all, we'll make a small triangular porch of arbitrary size and nail it under the hole.
- Next, we need two blanks - the top part, that is, the roof hub, and the roof itself. We will try them on a birdhouse, placing it so that the roof is level with respect to the box of the house, let us note the situation. Then we remove these details and join them together with nails.
- Then insert the roof with the bushing in the box of the birdhouse.
- We fix the structure with nails.
- And we finally get a ready-made house.
- To properly hang a birdhouse on a tree, we will nail a long board to its back wall.
That's all, the work is done! We hurry to the forest or the nearest public garden to please its feathered inhabitants with new housing.
