How to plant a lemon?

Growing a lemon at home is quite possible, but it's not possible to collect the fruits from it earlier than in 8 years. To obtain fruit at home, it is necessary to plant lemon. Then, in the second year, it will begin to blossom and it will be possible to expect the first fruits.

What is an inoculation? This is the process of transferring the cuttings (buds) of one plant to another and further coalescence. Inoculation of indoor lemon allows you to grow quality fruits without the use of chemistry or stimulants.

How to properly lemon a lemon: preparation for work

Before you can vaccinate a lemon, you need to prepare a root and a graft. The stock is called the plant to which you are going to plant the stalk. Seedling should be at least 3 years old, and the trunk diameter should be about 6 mm. In addition to lemon, you can plant the plant and other citrus fruits: mandarin orange or orange, for example.

Privoy called the stalk, which you are going to plant on the plant. Before planting a homemade lemon, the graft should be prepared. These are pre-prepared twigs, which are 1-2 years old, from a fruitful cultivated plant. This sprig should remove thorns, leaf blades, and leave petioles and kidneys.

Properly plant the lemon as soon as possible after cutting the twigs. If this is not possible, then the wax is wrapped in a damp cloth and put in a cellophane bag. The package should be stored in the refrigerator, but not more than a week.

Methods of grafting a lemon

Most often, grafting methods are used for grafting and cleavage. The first method can be used at any time of the year, but the cleavage is suitable only for the period of active sap movement: April-May. Some gardeners are inoculated with a sleeping "eyeball" in August. Before you plant the lemon, prepare all the necessary tools. Be sure to prepare a well sharpened knife, pruner. Many people use a scalpel or a razor instead of a knife. For grafting, you need a garden var, an elastic band. Now, in more detail, consider two methods of vaccination.

The method of budding is based on the transplantation of the bud of a cultivated plant into a seedling. From a fruit-bearing plant we carve a twig and choose the most developed kidney on it. Make two notches: 1 cm higher and 1.5 cm lower than the "eyelet". Then carefully cut the kidney with bark along the outlined contours. Try to capture as little wood as possible. Remove the leaf plate from the kidney and place it in a damp place. Now it's time to prepare a seedling. Cut it at a height of at least 10 cm from the ground. We make a longitudinal incision with a knife and slightly spread the bark. In this place it is necessary to place the prepared stalk. Place the graft tightly wrapped in an elastic band, leaving the stalk with the kidney from the outside. The stump of the rootstock is greased with a garden crock, the place below the graft is wrapped with damp cotton wool. The bandage is removed not earlier than a month.

How to plant a lemon in a cleavage? In this case, the fetus is a branch of a fruit-bearing plant with several leaves. Cut it down obliquely, necessarily under the lower kidney. And at 10 cm above the upper kidney make an even cut. Crop the seedling in the same way as in the first case. On the cut, cuts are made from two sides, as a result, it will take the form of a wedge with sharp angles. Further on the center it is necessary to make a vertical incision depth of about 2 cm. To plant the lemon at home with this method, the cut is inserted into the incision so that it completely enters the cleft and the bark of the two plants is aligned. Place the inoculation again with a tape, open the parts of the wood with a var. The bandage should be kept for about one and a half months.
