Museum of Planten-Moretus


Among the lanes of Antwerp, not far from the embankment of the Esko River, is the Museum of Planten-Moretus, which is dedicated to the life and work of the famous typographers of the 16th-17th century. It was Christopher Plantin and Jan Moretus who turned the favorite occupation into one of the industries.

The most famous book publications, stored in the Museum of Plantin Moretus in Antwerp , is the Bible in five languages ​​and the fifteenth-century manuscript, entitled The Chronicles of Jean Froissart. Here you can also find archives and accounting books that belonged to Christopher Plantin. In total, the library of the museum has more than 30 thousand books.

How to get there?

The Plantin-Moretus Museum in Belgium is located almost on the banks of the Esko River, next to the Sint-Annatunnel canal. You can reach it by bus route No.34, 291, 295, following the Antwerpen Sint-Jansvliet stop. At 300 meters from the museum is the tram stop Antwerpen Premetrostation Groenplaats, which can be reached by route 3, 5, 9 or 15.
