Reproduction of honeysuckle cuttings in summer

Honeysuckle of one of the very first garden crops brings us its useful fruits. But, unfortunately, with age, bushes grow old, which affects their yield. Therefore, for the constant renewal of the plant, it is recommended that the honeysuckle propagate periodically with green cuttings, and this must be done in the summer.

Honeysuckle edible and honeysuckle winding - reproduction by cuttings

In nature, there are many varieties of honeysuckle, which can be conditionally divided into edible and decorative varieties, as well as shrub and curly. All of them multiply in several ways - by dividing the rhizome, seeds, green cuttings. And it is the last of them that is the most simple and effective, because this method is most often used.

For the propagation of honeysuckle cuttings, in the summer, namely - in June, in the early morning it is necessary to cut 12-15 cm from the tops of its branches several young green shoots. All the leaves on them, with the exception of two truncated upper halves, are removed, under the kidneys, incisions are made.

Collected in this way, the branches are connected, immersed in a growth stimulant solution and hidden under a film in a warm place. In parallel, the ground is prepared for planting. It consists of pebble drainage, 20 cm of fertile soil, 10 cm of a mixture of peat and sand.

Before planting the cuttings, the soil is watered. Cuttings are planted at a distance of 5 cm from each other and 10 cm - between rows. Then they cover with a film and watered 10 times daily. This frequency of irrigation is maintained until the rooting of the plant, which occurs on the 15-20 day.

Until the spring landing in the garden, the cuttings must winter in warmth. In spring, they are planted in the open ground, abundantly nourishing with nitrogen fertilizers and regularly moisturizing them throughout the summer. And only in the autumn they move to their permanent place.
