The Botanical Garden (Leuven)

The De Kruidtuin Botanical Garden is the oldest in Leuven . It was created in 1738, before Belgium gained independence. In 1812 the landmark was expanded: a new garden was opened on the site of the Capuchin Monastery, and in 1835 it was transferred to the city.

What to see?

It's hard to believe, but what turned into a garden of 2.2 hectares previously was a common collection of grass and shrubs that belonged to local students, and the garden itself was previously considered a scientific one. Now there are about 900 species of flora.

It is a real oasis in the middle of a bustling city. Every day people come here for a soothing atmosphere, solitude and relaxation. As soon as you go into the garden, immediately attract the attention of tiny arrows, which help you navigate the considerable territory. And in the center of the attraction there is a pond and a large greenhouse, where you can admire a large number of tropical and subtropical plants. By the way, its total area is about 500 sq.m.
