Weaving from paper

Often mothers are thinking - how would this take their careers when plasticine and pencils are already bored? When a child sees how, with the help of conventional tools, beautiful and useful handicrafts are produced, he himself wants to take part in their manufacture. Recently, weaving from paper with our own hands has become very popular, which can be offered to master even beginners to create gifts for loved ones or fakes in a kindergarten or school. In our childhood we also weaved colorful carpets, but that's all. Now you can use not only colored paper, but also any other cellulose available in the house.

What just does not go into the business: old newspapers, toilet paper, magazines and albums. The technique of weaving decorative ornaments from strips of paper is quite simple, but it takes time and patience to master it. Such work is possible for children aged 10 years and older. Kids can still do more simple crafts that do not require great skill and time.

Weaving from paper for children is the development of sleight of fingers, fine motor skills, spatial thinking and perseverance. Starting work should be done with something simple, so weaving the same rug of colored paper will allow you to master the basics of such work and prepare for more complex. Later you can try to make a basket or a box for little things or eggs for Easter .

Today we will give you a master class on weaving a box of paper.

Weaving of a box of paper

For work, we need any heavy paper, a metal ruler, a sharp knife, clips and glue. Of course, the child will not be able to do everything exactly, and therefore the adult will have to help a little and plot the workpiece. It should look like this.

Now, with a sharp knife, the adult should cut through the contour to get a gap of 1-2 mm. At this stage the child can already act independently. All the resulting strips must be bent upward. The size of the workpiece and the number of strips can be arbitrary. You can get a square or rectangular box.

Now you need to lift the strips up through one for further weaving. Separately, you should prepare strips of the same material to interweave them alternately in the basket. Its length should be such that it is free to wrap the box around the contour. The first strip is wrapped around the box, crushing it around the edges to shape it. Now the strips that have been bent slightly glaze with glue so that they are well fixed. You can use silicate glue, but it's better if it's PVA, because it will not harm the child.

The places where the glue was applied are fixed with clips, and the remaining edge of the strip is bent inward and straightened again to get a straight line. By the resulting bend, cut off the unnecessary piece. Now the box should dry a little before proceeding to the next row.

That's the kind of inside - everything is neat and simple. Most likely, the child will not yet come out so clearly, but it's only his first weaving of paper. Do this action with the next row, remembering to let it dry out. The remaining edges for beauty can be rounded with scissors and bend all out.

The final touch is the handle of the same material as the box itself. It will carry a purely decorative function, and therefore wear something in this basket that is difficult to get.

Types of weaving from paper are different and in order to master them you need time. But it will pay off, because crafts are surprisingly beautiful and festive, despite the simplicity of the material used. Weaving from newspaper or toilet paper - this is aerobatics, the products made in this technique, do not be shamefully presented as a gift. In addition, they also have a purely practical purpose. After all, the farm always needs baskets for fruit and bread, baskets for linen and small things, and much more that can be weaved with the help of paper tubes.
