Carrot "The Queen of Autumn"

This variety of carrots rightly bears its proud name - the root crop is one of the best among its late-ripening brethren. It has an even shape, bright orange color, excellent taste qualities. In addition, perfectly tolerates the lezhku. But to get such results, it is important to plant and care for the plant properly.

Carrot "The Queen of Autumn" - cultivation

While describing the carrot "Queen of Autumn", we mentioned that this variety is the best representative of late roots. Root crops grow quite large - up to 220 grams each. In this case the flesh and the middle remain very tender and juicy. How to grow this miracle of cultivated nature?

In principle, the agrotechnics of carrots are not too complicated, although there are some features that you need to know about if you want to achieve excellent results. For example, carrots do not tolerate fresh organic fertilizers - they lead to ugly forms of the fetus. It is not necessary to water it abundantly, otherwise it will crack from excess moisture.

We are planting the "Queen of Autumn"

Seed is sown in the spring, although some plant it in early summer or late autumn (under winter). But we will stop in the early spring. So, the seeds are sown in rows to a depth of about 1.5-2 cm, keeping between the rows a distance of 15-20 cm.

The first shoots will appear after 2-3 weeks, but they grow quite slowly, so the appearance of real leaves will have to wait patiently. Carrot loves loosening, because the formation of an earth crust inhibits its germination. As an option - you can cover the beds after seeding - this will eliminate the need for permanent weeding.

Carrots "Queen of Autumn", like any other, requires two-fold thinning: the first time at the stage 1-2 of these leaves, the second - when the root is 1.2-1.5 cm in diameter. As a result, after two thinning, the distance between the plants should be 5-6 cm.

To feed carrots it is possible exclusively mineral fertilizers. Water should be done once a week, and a month before harvesting it is necessary to reduce it to 1 time in two weeks. The watering should be sufficient to make the moisture reach the deep roots, otherwise the carrot will be dry and lethargic.

Because the carrot "Queen of Autumn" is late, it is removed in the deep autumn. But it is stored very well and very long, so that it can be eaten until the next spring.
