Conization of the cervix ñ indications

Conization of the cervix is a surgical procedure, in which the site of the epithelium of the vaginal part is removed with dysplasia with a portion of the internal pharynx. It is performed in patients with a high degree of dysplasia (precancerous condition of the cervix). The main purpose of this procedure is to clarify whether the patient has cervical cancer or not. The following issues will be considered: the technique of conduction of cervical conization, indications and preparation for it.

Cervical dysplasia - is conization shown?

Pathologic disorders on the cervix are diagnosed in almost every second woman of reproductive age, but only 10% need an operative technique - conization. Thus, conization in the erosion of the cervix and other precancerous conditions is indicated only in those cases when the doctor can not determine whether the dysplastic changes affect only the epithelial (superficial) layer of the cervix or the absorbent layers. It also happens that the doctor suspects that the surface picture is not so terrible as what happens under the epithelial layer of the cervix.

Preparation and conduction of cervical conization

To prepare for this operation, the patient must pass a number of mandatory tests: a flap for flora and atypical cells, blood for the group and Rh, general and biochemical blood test, RW, studies for the presence of sexual infections. When carrying out the procedure, the age of the patient must be taken into account, whether she plans a pregnancy. The procedure is performed in a hospital under general or local anesthesia, its duration is 5-10 minutes. Currently, two types of conization are used: laser and loop electroconicisation.

The procedure of conization, in addition to its positive properties, has a number of contraindications: infectious diseases with predominant development in the small pelvis and diagnosed cervical cancer .
