Introspection

Modern man lives in a world of heightened stressful situations, which can cause various psychological and mental disorders in the body.

But, as you know, self-control over one's own behavior, emotions, plays a significant role in human life.

So, introspection, or else called introspection, is a person's observation of the personal internal processes of his psyche, while he observes the same for their external reactions and manifestations.

Self-monitoring in psychology

In psychology, introspection is noted as not the only basic method. He to some extent is an unreliability and difficulty, because in introspection, the object behind which the person observes is independent of the process of observation. After all, when there is a certain process in consciousness, a person changes it, which means that the possibility is not excluded that a person opens a new fact, which he himself introduced into his own consciousness.

This difficulty exists, but it is difficult to overcome.

Tasks of introspection

The method of introspection involves an attempt to understand, isolate the phenomena that occur in the mind of a person, using a special analysis. To accomplish this task, modern psychology connects to introspection an objective observation that complements it.

Observation and self-observation

Observation is a purposeful and systematic fixation of various psychological processes, facts in the conditions of everyday life, the naturalness of life.

Let's list the requirements for this scientific observation:

  1. It is necessary to draw up a monitoring plan.
  2. Record the results.
  3. Formulate the conclusions.

Self-observation plays a supporting role. In the form of a verbal report, a person describes everything that he managed to see in his own mind. Then the introspection data and observations are compared, the corresponding conclusions are made.

The problem of introspection

This problem is the most confusing and complex in psychology. It lurks in an attempt to substantiate a method of introspection, which looks clear and strict. After all, the subject of psychology is the processes of consciousness, facts. They are open only to a specific person, and this indicates that these facts of consciousness can only be investigated by introspection.

Personality, which deals with introspection, helps in this:

  1. Diary of self-observation.
  2. Interleaving impressions, assessments of others and introspection.
  3. Increase self-esteem.
  4. Passage of trainings.

It should be noted that introspection will be of high quality if you follow the recommendations of psychologists, reinforcing introspection by watching others around you.
