Sand in the bladder

Very often, when examining the bladder in women older than 20 years on ultrasound reveal small (up to 5 mm) hyperechoic formations - sand. However, sometimes, with symptoms of cystitis, when passing urine for analysis, it can detect sediment in the form of small dense formations - this sand leaves the bladder. In this case urate, phosphate or oxalate crystals are found in the analysis of urine. The type of salts depends on the type of disturbance of metabolic processes in the body that takes place in each specific case.

Sand in the bladder - causes

The main causes of the appearance of sand in the bladder are, above all, metabolic disorders, usually inherited. Among other possible reasons, it should be noted:

Quite often, sand in the urine appears in the first trimester of pregnancy due to a change in metabolism in the body of a woman or toxicosis.

Symptoms of sand in the bladder

Often the appearance of sand in the bladder resembles cystitis - urination increases, pain and lower abdominal pain appear, frequent urination is typical. If the sand is in the urethra, then the pain can be given to the perineum. With prolonged irritation of the bladder, bacterial microflora is attached to the sand and cystitis can develop.

Sand in the bladder - treatment

If sand is found in the bladder, then the first treatment that is prescribed is a diet. The type of diet depends on which salts were found in the general analysis of urine. But there are general recommendations on the diet, regardless of the type of salt - this is salt restriction, the refusal of sour and spicy food, refusal to drink alcohol, meals in small portions.

For the prevention of cystitis should often empty the bladder, avoid hypothermia, drink large amounts of fluid. From folk remedies, decoctions of herbs are recommended that have an anti-inflammatory effect on the urinary system and promote the release of salts from the kidneys and bladder. These include parsley (all its parts), fruit and roots of wild rose, fresh birch sap , decoction of field horsetail, fresh juice of red beet or cucumber, carrot juice.
