Crystalline camphor

Camphor is a colorless, crystalline substance with a pronounced odor, derived from the etheric camphor oil. The healing properties of crystalline camphor have been known for a long time: for thousands of years the product has been used in medicine and cosmetology. Currently, camphor is part of some medicines used in the therapy of a number of diseases.

Application of crystalline camphor

Camphor belongs to the group of analeptics - agents that excite the respiratory and vasomotor divisions of the brain. When injected, camphor oil:

• activates the activity of vasomotor centers;
• stimulates the work of the heart muscle and lungs;
• improves metabolic processes;
• causes vasoconstriction;
• has antiseptic and expectorant effect.

In this regard, the oil-camphor solution is used in the treatment of:

• heart failure ;
• inflammation of the lungs, croupous pneumonia, purulent pleurisy;
• asphyxia of various etiologies;
• arthritis, rheumatism ;
• intoxication as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning, hypnotic drugs, drugs.

A wide application is found in crystalline camphor in the treatment of dermatological diseases. In addition, camphor essential oil has a calming effect on a person. Camphor flavor is recommended to inhale for insomnia, neurosis and depression.

In the pharmacy chains, the following camphor-containing preparations can be purchased:

• camphor ointment used for rubbing with pains in the joints and muscles;
• camphor alcohol used for external rubbing in case of pain manifestations and is a preventive tool in case of the threat of bedsores;
• 10% camphor oil, intended for external use with radiculitis, arthritis, rheumatism;
• ear drops, which are a mixture of camphor and paraffin oil;
• ampoules with a 20% solution of camphor for subcutaneous injection;
• liniment "Camphocin" for grinding, containing along with camphor oil tincture of capsicum, castor oil and salicylic acid.

Camphor oil is also found in the dental drops "Denta" with pain-antiseptic effect and homeopathic preparation "Camphor", used as a cold and soothing remedy. Often, camphor is included in the compositions of multicomponent pharmaceutical preparations along with other essential oils (rosemary, lavender, thyme, etc.).

Important! For those who do not use alcohol-based solutions, it will be useful to learn how to dilute the crystalline camphor with water. To prepare a medicinal solution for a compress at home, a tablespoon of camphor is bred with the same amount of warm water. The resulting white curdled mass is used for rubbing with musculo-articular pain.

Crystalline camphor with oncology

Although official medicine does not consider camphor as a tool that can be used in the treatment of cancer, traditional medicine recommends in some cases the use of camphor crystals in the fight against malignant tumors. More often crystalline camphor is used in the treatment of skin cancer. To do this, 10 g of substance poured into a half-liter bottle of vodka, shake the vessel several times, until the crystals dissolve. The gauze moistened with the solution is applied as a compress to the cancer tumor for 10 days, after the 5th break the treatment course is repeated. This remedy also helps with bruises and joint pain.
