Edge presentation of the placenta, 20 weeks

Such a phrase as "placenta previa" is quite often heard from a gynecologist. This term is used when the child's place is low, relative to the level of the internal pharynx of the uterus. In this case, several types of this phenomenon are distinguished: low, marginal and central previa.

What does the marginal placenta presentation mean?

A regional presentation of the placenta, often diagnosed at a 20-week period, is a dangerous form of such a disorder. With it, partial overlapping of the placenta of the internal pharynx occurs. Much worse is the case when the inner uterus is completely blocked.

How is the treatment with a regional placenta previa?

If such a condition is found in women, doctors usually do not rush to take any action, preferring to wait until the uterus increases in size and the placenta along with it rises higher - it migrates. The main task of a doctor in this situation is to prevent the development of complications. A woman is recommended to completely eliminate physical activity and refuse from sexual contacts.

What is dangerous marginal presentation of the placenta?

Perhaps the most dangerous complication in the marginal type of placenta previa is bleeding. In this case, the life of the fetus is endangered, because of the possibility of developing spontaneous abortion.

Also, the consequences of such a location of the placenta can be attributed to the disruption of the fetus's location in the uterine cavity. There is an oblique, gluteal and even transverse arrangement. This means that with a marginal presentation of the placenta, the generic process will have its own characteristics.

In view of the similar arrangement of the baby in the womb of the mother, births naturally do not occur with marginal presentation of the placenta. The only option is a cesarean section, which involves manual removal of the placenta.
