Expressive speech

Expressiveness of speech can be safely equated with its wealth, the beauty of the inner world of man. After all, the breadth of his knowledge is represented precisely by the vocabulary and by how skillfully the individual manages in his speeches various stable combinations, stylistic figures, etc.

The basic means of expressiveness of speech

In order to give a speech colorful, bright, lively, more expressive, apply the following methods:

  1. Synonyms . Everyone knows that they are close in meaning words (for example, the interlocutor is a conversationalist). What should they be used for? First of all, so that the story does not resemble something like "butter oil". Synonyms help to avoid tautology in the narrative, thus giving something more precise description.
  2. Homonyms . A maiden braid and a scythe to mow the grass. Here are vivid examples of what are homonyms (words that differ in meaning, but in writing coincide one to one).
  3. Antonyms . They are used in the case of oppositions: cold - hot, anger - joy. Thanks to them, the contradictions are better represented.
  4. Archaisms . In order to give his speech a certain solemnity, features, phrases or words, long out of use (angry - angry, crochets - shoes) are used.
  5. Neologism . They are the opposite of the previous concept. This innovation not only adds to the expressiveness of speech, but also makes it clear to the interlocutor that the narrator is keeping pace with the times (for example, the brand, the device).
  6. Phraseological units . They are stable in composition by expressions. They can not change the order of words or try to change the grammatical structure. They are used as a means of representativeness of thought (for example, "pan or disappeared").
  7. Metaphor . This is a kind of trail, which is a secret comparison with something or someone (iron nerves, a windy person).
  8. Incarnation . This way of expressiveness of speech, gives it more and more imagery. Here inanimate objects turn into living beings (the wind howls, the clouds float).
  9. Hyperbola . Conscious exaggeration of the meaning of something, beauty or even size (not to see a hundred years, the ocean of tears).
  10. The irony . Where in our life without irony, one of the basic methods of expressiveness of speech? In order not to offend the interlocutor, but at the same time show his attitude to what he heard, seen, this hidden mockery is applied. A vivid example of this is the phrase of M. Zhvanetsky "Physicians fought for her life so much that, alas, she could survive."

Intonational expressiveness of speech

It manifests itself in the pace of what has been said, which is classified into fast, medium and slow. Also in voice power, speech color, rhythm and logical stress of the whole sentence.

In order not only to develop, but also to improve it, you should practice the following exercises:

  1. During the pronunciation of any sentence, it is worth trying to convey different feelings through intonation color (for example, the sun shines and all children are happy).
  2. Take your favorite verse. Depending on the meaning of each phrase, it is recommended to change the tempo of the voice, its height.
  3. Read plays, works of other genres, focusing on the replica of the characters. They need to be read out, imagining that now you are standing on the stage, playing in the play in front of a hundred spectators.
  4. It will not be superfluous to come up with any suggestions and pronounce them with the most diverse emotional coloring (for example, is it really her fault?).
  5. That speech was expressive, it is necessary to watch your breathing and diction .
