Fir oil - application

Fir is a genus of evergreen coniferous trees of pine family (Pinaceae), numbering 35-40 species.

Essential oils of fir white (Abies alba), balsamic fir (Abies balsamea) and Abies grandis are widely used in cosmetology and aromatherapy.

Obtain essential oil by steam distillation of needles (Great fir), needles, cones and young branches (fir white), needles and branches (balsamic fir).

Properties

Great fir

It has anti-tumor and anti-cancer properties. Relieves muscle pain, is effective for respiratory infections. The therapeutic effect is close to fir balsamic.

Balsam fir

It has analgesic, antispasmodic, disinfecting, antirheumatic, anti-arthritic, bactericidal in respiratory tract infections and relaxing properties.

Fir White

In cosmetology is used as a remedy for furunculosis, pustular rash, as an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. Rejuvenates and tightens the aging skin, cleans and tones it, removes swelling. Effective for removing the unpleasant odor of the feet and dermatosis of the feet. For medical purposes it is used for the treatment of acute respiratory disease, rheumatic and muscular pain, in neuralgia, osteochondrosis, arthritis.

Also, essential oils of all types of fir are a natural imunomodulator.

In pure form, oil can be toxic, so it is applied to the skin only in a base oil. In the composition of mixtures is allowed in a concentration of not more than 10% (balsamic fir) and not more than 2% - other species.

Application of fir essential oil

  1. For the enrichment of cosmetic products: 5 drops per 15 ml of the base (fir white).
  2. For baths: add water to 10 drops (fir white, balsamic).
  3. Mask from wrinkles: mix 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of honey and 4 drops of essential oil of fir (white or balsamic). Apply on face for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
  4. Mask for oily skin: take ½ teaspoon of sea salt, 1 tablespoon oatmeal, add the cream and stir until the consistency of thick sour cream. Add 2 drops of fir essential oil white. Apply on face for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
  5. Mask for strengthening hair: 2 tablespoons of a mixture of marigold and nettle, taken in equal parts, pour two glasses of warm water and stand on a water bath for 30 minutes. Cool, mix thoroughly, add 3 drops of essential oil of fir white or balsamic and apply on hair for 20 minutes.
  6. From acne: essential oil of fir balsamic is recommended to be used as an additive to cosmetic products or masks, but not more than 3 drops. In case of severe skin lesions, you can apply a spot moxibustion: dip a match in the essential oil and apply it to the pimples.
  7. In aromalamps (4-5 drops) for general relaxation and disinfection of the room from mold and staphylococci.

Application for medicinal purposes

  1. When frostbite: mix 15 drops of fir essential oil with 1 tablespoon of macadamia oil, apply to the affected area and wrap with a warm bandage.
  2. With a cold. Inhalations with essential oil of fir white or balsamic (2 drops each, the procedure lasts 5 minutes). You can also use a mixture of essential oils of thyme, peppermint, neroli, balsamic fir and ravintassar (camphor cinnamon) in a ratio of 2: 2: 2: 1: 3. For 6-8 drops of the mixture to use for rubbing the upper back and chest, 3 times a day, for 3 days.

For the bath

Since fir oil is a natural antiseptic, it is recommended to use it at the very beginning to disinfect the air in the steam room. For these purposes mixtures of ethereal fir, cedar, eucalyptus, peppermint, berries and juniper needles are also suitable. To prevent catarrhal diseases, you can use a mixture of essential oil of fir (4 drops), eucalyptus (5 drops) and peppermint (3 drops).
