Greenland National Park

Greenland can boast not one of its attractions , which will attract and interest a large number of travelers. Among all known objects of the island, the Greenland National Park enjoys great world fame. Impressive dimensions of its area, an extraordinary combination of flora and fauna have glorified this beautiful reserve to the whole world. The Greenland National Park received the status of a biosphere reserve and is under the supervision of scientists, government and specialized societies.

Flora and fauna

The Greenland National Park is the world's most northern reserve. It perfectly and harmoniously combines huge ice floes and vegetation, fauna and northern cold. This adds to the reserve exclusivity and picturesqueness. Because of the low temperature in the Greenland national park, the flora is relatively poor. Basically it grows coniferous trees, birches and cypresses. But if we talk about the fauna, then we can say that in this beautiful place there is a huge number of rare species of animals.

In the park you can meet beautiful deer, polar bears, wolves and foxes, walruses and penguins, etc. The reserve is home to 22 scientists and 110 specially trained dogs. Representatives of the scientific sphere "look after" the state of the park and conduct research on the natural world.

On a note

The Greenland National Park can be visited only on Tuesday from 8.00 to 17.00. All other days of the week the reserve is closed for tourist viewing. Walking alone on the reserve is not only stupid, you can get lost, but also dangerous because of the large number of wild animals. Therefore, you need to hire a guide before a visit, and he will tell you where and how you can rent a car to view the park.

You can reach the Greenland National Park by car or taxi. There is another option on the excursion bus, which departs from the nearest cities to the reserve. In Ilklokkortormiute (a small village) you can hire yourself a helicopter that will show you the entire charm of the park from a height.
