Types of skiing

Skiing can be divided into types on demand to the level of physical and technical training of the skier. Approximately this: mountain skiing for beginners, advanced skiers, expert level skiers and skis for athletes.

Also, subspecies include special women's skis, sports junior skis and children's skis. On purpose, mountain skis are designed for fans of different levels (off-piste skis, carving and universal skis) and specialized sports skiing (skis for ski-cross, ski for slalom, for ski acrobatics).

Skis for beginners

To properly choose a ski beginners need to consider many factors. For example, longer skis go well in deep snow, short skis are more suitable for maneuvers.

For beginners skis will approach, which will be 20 cm below their height. Also for beginners athletes fit wide skis, which are universal for different routes. Beginners need to choose soft and light skis, they hold the skier well enough and will not allow him to fall. Also between the classic and carving skis it is worth giving preference to the latter. They narrow down in the middle, and are more simple in management, which will minimize drifts on corners.

Ski poles

Many newcomers to skiing do not attach much importance to ski poles, which in actual fact belong to the main elements of ski equipment. By the way, even the technique of the athlete depends on them.

Sticks are an expendable material, therefore, at the first stages of cognition of mountain skiing techniques one should not think about the construction of sticks. Initially, they should be strong, and there is no need to think about buying expensive sticks.

In essence, they differ only in the material of the execution of the stick itself, the shape of the handle and the material of the tip. For a beginner, an ordinary aluminum stick with a handle and the simplest tip is suitable.

Choose the stick you want is pretty easy. Stand upright, take the sticks by the handles, while the arms should be bent at the elbows by approximately 90 degrees. Most instructors advise taking sticks 5-10 centimeters longer, because in any case it can be anyway to shorten.

After you bought a stick, the first thing to do is to cut off the straps from the handle and then try not to put your hands in them. After all, in ski equipment, everything is done to ensure that at the time of the fall the inventory is unfastened and in no case maimed the skier, therefore it is strictly forbidden to attach the sticks to the hands with straps. Even more, at the moment of falling, always try to throw away the sticks away. If suddenly you did not manage to throw out the sticks, and they bent, the aluminum sticks are quite easy to bend through the knee, or, in extreme cases, buy new ones.
