Phthalazol belongs to the sulfanilamide group of drugs and has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. The drug is only available in tablet form in the packaging of 10 and 20 pieces.
Indications for the use of the drug Ftalazol are as follows:
- acute and chronic dysentery ;
- infectious gastroenteritis with diarrheal syndrome;
- infectious enterocolitis;
- salmonellosis ;
- food poisoning.
Also, phthalazole is used in surgery to prevent infection and purulent complications after surgical intervention.
Reception of phthalazole
The fact that Ftalazol helps in intestinal disorders is known to many, but few know how to correctly take Ftalazol. The most important question asked by patients: how to take Ftalazol with diarrhea - before or after eating?
The main rules for taking Ftalazol are:
1. The medicine is taken orally, the tablet is swallowed whole and is taken with a glass of water. To increase the alkaline reaction of the liquid in water, it is desirable to add 2.5 g of baking soda.
2. Take Ftalazol 30 - 60 minutes before meals.
3. For dysentery, the drug should be drunk for at least 6 days. In doing so, take:
- in the first two days 2 tablets 6 times a day;
- on the third-fourth day - 2 tablets four times a day;
- in the fifth - the sixth day - 2 tablets 3 times a day.
At the end of the main treatment course, a second course is held according to the scheme:
- the first - the second day - 2 tablets 5 times a day;
- in the third - fourth day - 2 tablets 4 times a day;
- the fifth day - 2 tablets three times a day.
Attention! The largest single dose for dysentery is 4 tablets, daily - 14 tablets.
With the diarrhea of non-dysenteric etiology, phthalazole is taken:
- two or three days for 2-4 tablets 4-6 times a day;
- the fourth - the sixth day for 1-2 tablets with the same periodicity.
If there is no dysentery, and within 12 hours there is no diarrhea, then the drug can be stopped prematurely.
