A refreshing reminder of the summer can be a jar of mint with lemon. You can put peppermint as an addition to any jam from berries, or use a pair of lemon slices as an independent basis.
Jam with mint with lemon - recipe
Do not expect the product to consist of the usual jam, because unlike berries, mint does not contain pectin, and therefore thickens the jam reluctantly. If desired, you can pour the pectin yourself, or replace it with starch.
Ingredients:
- mint - 145 g;
- water 270 ml;
- lemon - 1 piece;
- sugar 320 g.
Preparation
Cooking mint-lemon jam begins with the preparation of mint leaves. The washed mint is roughly chopped and placed in enameled dishes. Add mint of lemon to the mint. Citrus fruits can be changed to your taste: making jam more sour will help lime, and sweetness will add an orange. When the ingredients are in a saucepan, they are poured with water and leave to cook on the stove for about 15 minutes. The resulting broth is removed from the plate, left for 12 hours and only then filtered through a double layer of gauze. The resulting liquid is then mixed with the sugar and cooked for 10 minutes. To achieve a more dense consistency of mint jam with lemon, you can, if you prolong the cooking up to an hour.
