The last paid for a skyscraper 650 thousand local pesos. In those days it was the tallest building in the whole of South America, not inferior to the primacy in the capital until now.

In 1996, Palacio Salvo in Uruguay received the status of a national monument. He has a twin brother who was raised in Buenos Aires and called Palacio Barolo . When building skyscrapers, the main idea was that the rays of night illumination from two identical structures would be symbolically stretched to each other, creating an imaginary bridge across the vast expanse of the gulf between the capitals of neighboring states.
