Seedlings without land

Traditional for growing vegetable and flower crops is a seedling method. It allows seedlings ready to be planted in open ground with minimal losses. It is at the seedling stage that natural selection of the strongest and healthy plants takes place. As a rule, seedlings are grown in the soil. However, there are other methods, more practical. Let's look at some interesting ways of sowing seedlings without the use of land.

Methods of growing seedlings without land

The most popular among them are the following:

  1. The so-called Moscow method of growing seedlings : instead of the earth, toilet paper is used. So you can germinate almost any seeds - tomatoes, pumpkins, celery, beets, etc.
  2. In the sawdust is good to grow cucumber seedlings - moist wood mass allows the roots to develop more quickly, and you can plant seedlings in the garden before.
  3. Sometimes seedlings without land are planted in bottles, cut in half along. At the bottom of this capacity, you need to lay several layers of toilet paper, moisten, pour seeds and cover with a film. But remember: the bottle itself must be transparent. A similar method is to plant seedlings without earth into film or placement in transparent bags.

How to plant seedlings without land?

The main idea of growing seedlings without land is that each seed already contains a supply of nutrients necessary for a successful start. In order for the seeds to produce germs, they do not need anything other than moisture and heat.

Place the prepared seeds in a paper, napkin or bottle and cover with polyethylene. As soon as the first sprouts appear, the shelter can be removed, the temperature reduced, and the capacity with seedlings placed in a bright place.

Of course, it is not possible to cultivate a single culture without the soil. The Earth will need plants after picking, but before the first pair of real leaves appear, you can do without it. In practice, all these methods proved to be very convenient - this seedling occupies very little space on the windowsill, and it takes a minimum of time to water it. In addition, this method protects young shoots from the black leg, often affecting seedlings in the ground.
