The main filter is a filter that connects to a water pipe for cold or hot water, by mounting a bulb to the pipe itself, that is, it is installed directly on the water mains.

Types of main filters

How to choose the main filter?
For the correct selection of the main filter to purify water in your home, it is important to determine the following parameters:
- type of main - hot or cold water;
- the desired degree of purification is mesh or cartridge;
- body type - Big Blue (for medium and high water flow) and Slim Line (for small consumption);
- hydraulic losses - from 0,1 to 0,5 bar, the higher the floor, the smaller the loss index;
- type of cartridge - depends on the chemical composition of the water.
Cartridges for main filters
The cartridge that cleans all impurities is not, therefore, for its main filter, choose it depending on the problem:
- for hard water - BS;
- for purification from chlorine - with activated carbon;
- to remove excess iron - BA;
- for protection against scale - with polyphosphate.
Also the choice of the type of the main filter depends on the type of purposed water purification: coarse or fine. The coarse filter removes rather large mechanical impurities from the water, which contributes to the safety of equipment and sanitary ware, and fine cleaning - makes the water suitable for drinking and cooking, removing
Installing the main filter yourself
It is easy to install the main filter. For this, it is necessary to cut directly into the water pipe of cold or hot water, and also for convenience of use, provide a water drain line from the filter and a cut off valve. Be sure to install the filter in an accessible location, since you will constantly have to change the cartridge, and under it you need to leave free space (2/3 of the height of the bulb).
To replace the cartridge it is necessary to cut off the water supply, unscrew the flask with a special key, replace the cartridge and assemble the filter. If you use the right type of main filter for water treatment, you will always use clean water even from the tap.
