The station of San Giovanni was planned to be opened this year, but at the moment a number of excavations are being conducted here. And it all began in 2016, when the builders came across something incomprehensible. Archaeologists arriving at the site found out that ancient premises were found here, barracks consisting of 39 rooms. Their creation dates back to the second century. They belonged to the army of the Emperor Hadrian, the very one who, by order of him, erected many statues, libraries, theaters. But this does not end there. It turns out that along with barracks archeologists found a mass burial with 13 skeletons. The deceased were either members of the elite praetorian guard, or bodyguards of the emperor. At the moment excavation continues.

2. Slaves and a modern New York office.

In 1991 the construction of an office building began in the Big Apple. True, during the construction was discovered an ancient burial. Archaeologists have determined that the graves found are an African burial, which can be attributed to the 1690s. At that time, modern Lower Manhattan was beyond the city limits. In the 17th century, African Americans were forbidden to bury their relatives in cemeteries "for white people." As a result, the slaves created a place where about 10,000 - 20,000 people were buried. At the site of the excavation in 2006, a monument was erected - the National Monument of African Graves. But this is not the only ancient cemetery found in New York: the second African burial dating from the 18th and 19th centuries is located below the park of Sara D. Roosevelt on the Lower East Side. And in East Harlem during the construction of a bus depot found the grave of slaves of the 17th century.

It turned out that the DNA of their teeth contains a plague bacterium. And in the second grave 42 people are buried, who also became victims of the Great Plague of 1665. As the excavations have shown, the bodies are placed in coffins.

Interestingly, in Greece this is not the first skeleton found with such a decoration. 10 years ago, female remains of another Hellenic woman were found, which was buried with four golden wreaths and gold earrings in the form of dog heads. In the end, in order not to damage the ancient burials, the authorities came to the conclusion that the pipeline should be laid even lower. For example, in 2017 in Minnesota, USA, dozens of graves were found during the construction of roads.

In 2010, studies have shown that the remains of 50 people belonged to the Vikings and can be attributed to 910-1030 years. e. This is exactly the period when the British faced the aggression of the Vikings. Also, the analysis of isotopes in the teeth indicated the Scandinavian origin of these guys.
