Aggression in psychological science is defined as a reaction directed to the detriment of another individual, an object or himself. Aggressive behavior is characteristic of a person deceived in their expectations, which is determined by the same science as the state of frustration. The situation was not necessarily directed against him. For example, it started to rain, but the man did not take the umbrella and he kicks the cat passing by.
Types of aggression
Aggression and aggressive behavior are manifested in different ways. Sometimes they just catch your eye when someone screams, wags their arms or raises their voice. But sometimes aggression can be carefully disguised, but this is no less dangerous: it can be jokes that hurt the dignity of a person, slanting looks in his direction, questionable compliments or "pity" ("Oh, what happened, you look so bad today!" ).
There are also uncontrollable attacks of aggression, this is already a clear evidence of psychological ill-being. Especially dangerous are these manifestations in the family, when the objects of aggression are women, children or animals.
Useful functions of aggression and its management
Aggressiveness and aggressive behavior can also perform useful functions, for example, when they serve the protection of the person or his family. But in this case it should be realized and kept under control, the answer must correspond to the challenge, otherwise it is possible to get under the criminal code.
Thus, the concepts of "aggressive behavior" and "aggression management" should be divided. The abuser, of course, should not be left unpunished, but, first, you need to measure the rebuff, and secondly, remember who is in front of you. If it is a family member, a child or a defenseless animal, it can cost and swallow your anger and try to solve the matter by peace.
