The rules of the game in short backgammon

Short backgammon is a very difficult, but very interesting game for two players. It requires a special board, which has 24 cells, called points. Special terms are also available for the designation of groups of cells, as well as certain parts of the playing field.

To understand all these names and features of each item is quite difficult, especially for a small child. Nevertheless, if you want, you can do it in a short time. The rules of the game in short oriental backgammon

It is with this arrangement of checkers that the game begins. At the same time on the side of each player there are 2 groups of 6 cells in each, which are called the house and the yard. These sections are divided among themselves by a bar, protruding above the playing field, called "bar". Similar groups of cells on the opposite side, respectively, are called the house and yard of the enemy.

All items for each player are numbered from 1 to 24, starting with his own home. In this case, the numbering is carried out in such a way that the last item for one participant is the first point for his opponent. As you can see from the picture, at the beginning of the game all the checkers of both players are placed on the field so that in the 6th point they have 5 chips, in the 8th - 3, in the 13th - 5 and in the 24th - 2.

In the course of the competition, each participant must move his chips in a certain direction. In particular, whites should move according to the following scheme:

The owner of black checkers, respectively, moves his arsenal in the opposite direction. The goal of each player in the game is short backgammon - gradually move all your chips into your own house, then take them off the board.

At the beginning of the game, both participants roll the dice to determine who will be the first to go. The one who managed to knock out the greater number of points, makes the first move and moves his chips to the number of points indicated on the bones, taking into account the following rules:

  1. All checkers move only in one direction - from cells with large numbers to smaller ones.
  2. The checker can not be placed in a "closed" cell, that is, one that is occupied by two or more opponent's chips.
  3. The numbers on each bone are separate moves, which, however, can be combined. Thus, if the player has dropped 5 and 3, he can be different chips or one at once on 8 points, but only if the necessary intermediate point for this is open.
  4. In case of a double, the number of moves doubles, that is, if the player has dropped 6-6, he must move the chips 4 times by 6 points.
  5. If possible, the competitor must use all available moves. Independently to refuse movement of drafts it is impossible.
  6. If there is only one opponent in the cell, the player can "eat" it with his checker and send it to the "bar". In this case, the other participant must initially use his turn to return this chip to the field. If there is no possibility to enter the checker into the game, the player skips the turn.
  7. After returning all the chips to their home, each participant begins to remove them from the board, moving to the number of points indicated on the bones, or less. The winner is the one who managed to cope with the task faster.
