Volumetric snowflakes with their own hands

How beautiful the three-dimensional Christmas snowflakes look! It is not at all difficult to make such an ornament yourself; it requires only a beautiful paper, scissors and a little time.

Volumetric snowflake with own hands

Creating bulk snowflakes from paper is a very fascinating process. The main thing is to master the basics, and then from the simplest works it will be possible to proceed to complex openwork snowflakes.

It seems that such a large snowflake is very difficult to make, in fact, in the technique of its creation, there is absolutely nothing complicated! Let us consider in more detail how to create such a beauty.

1. Any complex piece of paper is created from many details. Our snowflake consists of several paper elements that simply stick together with each other. The main thing is to learn how to create constituent elements.

2. We prepare the material for the future snowflake. For workpieces we need sheets of paper, cut into several strips of equal size, PVA glue and toothpicks. The width of the strips usually does not exceed 0.5 cm.

3. Preparing the blanks. All blanks are necessarily glued, that is, they glue the tip of the material so that the workpiece does not fall apart. Take a piece of paper and wind it on the toothpick. Be sure to strongly scroll the beginning of the strip, otherwise the workpiece will simply slide on the toothpick, and do not twist to the end.

4. Then pull out the toothpick, and glue the tip of the strip to the curl, securing the resulting shape.

5. This creates the shape of a ring with a spiral. It is this form that serves as the basis for all others.

6. Create the shape of a square, diamond, triangle, drop, heart.

All of them are created from the ring by simply squeezing the sides to form corners. In our snowflake 6 squares, 6 large drops, 6 hearts.

7. It is necessary to prepare the blanks and glue them together.

Such a volume snowflake on the Christmas tree will give a feeling of lightness and airy shroud, only the details for it need to be made very small so that it looks neat.

To decorate a window or a ceiling, larger volume snowflakes are more suitable.

How to cut a three-dimensional snowflake?

There is another way how to give a snowflake volume, it will need large sheets of paper and scissors.

1. Cut out a sheet of paper square. The size of the square will correspond to the size of one "ray" of a snowflake.

2. Fold the square diagonally so that you get a triangle, and make the markup, as shown in the figure.

3. On the drawn lines, cut the square so that the cut starts from the inside, but does not reach the edge of the paper. We unfold the workpiece. It was a large square with slots inside it.

4. We glue the corners of the inner square formed by the notches.

5. Then turn the work and glue the corners of the "middle" inner square. It turns out that the volume elements are arranged alternately on both sides of the plane of the sheet.

6. We prepare several such elements and glue them together.
