Breastfeeding imposes significant restrictions on the diet of a young mother. Some foods can cause a newborn baby to have an allergic reaction or provoke colic and other problems in the work of a still not fully formed digestive tract.
To prevent this from happening, nursing mothers need to know what can and can not eat, especially in the first month after childbirth. In this article we will tell you which products can be consumed during this period without restrictions, and which ones should be at least temporarily excluded.
What should you eat your nursing mother immediately after birth?
In the daily menu of a woman breastfeeding her newborn baby, who has not yet turned a month, must include the following dishes and foods:
- various soups cooked without adding cabbage;
- corn, oatmeal and buckwheat porridge;
- boiled potatoes;
- low-fat varieties of fish and meat - approximately 200 grams daily;
- green apples, peaches and apricots, bananas;
- carrot;
- 1 cup of kefir before bedtime;
- sour cream and cottage cheese;
- Hard cheese, about 100 grams per day;
- natural juices;
- Cream, as well as olive, soy, sunflower and corn oil.
In addition, a young mother should continue taking multivitamins and medicines containing calcium in her diet.
What should be excluded?
In the first days and weeks after childbirth the following products should be excluded:
- cow's milk, chicken eggs;
- citrus and exotic fruits, as well as grapes;

- tomatoes;
- sweet confectionery and chocolate, nuts and honey;
- mushrooms;
