Atopic dermatitis - causes

Chronic skin diseases occur more often. Especially difficult to treat neurodermatitis , infantile eczema or atopic dermatitis - the causes of this pathology rarely can be established reliably. Therefore, doctors have to act intuitively, selecting complex treatment schemes individually for each person.

All factors that contribute to the onset of progression of this disease are conventionally divided into physiological and psychological. Often, both types of irritants occur, therefore, complex therapy is usually prescribed.

Physiological causes of atopic dermatitis

The risk of neurodermatitis is increased, mainly if there is a genetic predisposition to this skin disease.

As the results of several medical studies show, the propensity to atopic dermatitis is more often transmitted through the maternal line. If one of the family members is ill with the pathology under consideration, allergic rhinitis or bronchial asthma, the chances of diagnosing infantile eczema are about 50%. In cases where both parents suffer from one of these ailments, the risk of progression of the neurodermatitis reaches 80%.

Psychological causes of atopic dermatitis

To begin with, it should be noted that the psychogenic factors are not the original causes of the described disease, but only provocateurs of periods of exacerbations or severe relapses of neurodermatitis.

The immune and nervous systems are closely interrelated. Therefore, with constant exposure to stress, emotional overload, psychological stress, the body's defense is weakened. The lack of immune cells makes the skin extremely susceptible to infectious attacks and allergens, which manifests itself in the form of itching rash, dryness and strong exfoliation of the epidermis, characteristic signs of atopic dermatitis.
