Citrits for cucumbers

Crop rotation is a very important moment in horticulture. From the observance of the rules of alternation of different cultures, their yield directly depends. But even the choice of good predecessors does not always save our vegetables from such troubles as pests and poor fruiting. Partly solve this problem help green fertilizers - the so-called siderates. Let's find out which ciderates are best used for cucumbers grown in a greenhouse or in beds.

Ciderates for cucumbers

Cucumbers are a delicious and healthy vegetable. But its disadvantage, which is well known to all experienced truck farmers, is the allocation of the roots of harmful substances (they are called colins). They accumulate in the soil and can damage subsequent crops of cucumbers or melons planted on this place. Therefore, ideally, these vegetables can be planted only after 4 years.

But if you - the owner of a small garden, then losing so much time is an unacceptable luxury. Therefore, after harvesting cucumbers in this place put siderates, the best of which are olive radish and white mustard. They refer to cruciferous and to the same fast-growing cultures. By the end of September, they can be mowed, and then prikopat 10 cm. In spring, as soon as the temperature becomes plus, in this soil you can sow another group of siderates, which will well prepare the soil for cucumber plantations. You can use the vetch-oat mixture, rapeseed, phacelia. And already in May the sloping shoots of green fertilizer can be used for mulching beds with cucumbers.

As for the greenhouse cultivation of cucumbers, here, as cereals, cereal crops (oats and rye) are often used, which perfectly heal the soil. With such a sideration, you will not need to fully replace the soil in the greenhouse, as it sometimes has to do. You can use and legumes - for example, beans, clover, peas or lupins. These crops are the leaders in the list of plants that enrich the soil with nutrients and, in particular, nitrogen.

In the greenhouse, as well as in the open ground, sowing can be planted in autumn and early spring. The preferred type of green fertilizer depends on the season of your choice. When spring planting, they usually stop on cold-resistant and early-ripening plants - oats, vetch, mustard, phacelia . For a couple of weeks before planting cucumbers, the ciderates are mowed and shallowly embedded in the ground or used as mulch.
