The question of the primary invention of the recipe for the cocktail "Bloody Mary" is not unambiguously resolved.

The New York Herald Tribune, dated December 2, 1939, refers to the drink of George Jessel, made from vodka and tomato juice. Initially, this drink is positioned as an antipode agent. The time of invention of a cocktail is determined by the period between world wars.

In 1964, a certain Fernand Petito, who moved to the United States from France, in an interview with the correspondents of The New Yorker magazine claims that he was preparing and serving a vodka-tomato drink prepared according to his own recipe for vodka and tomato juice with additives, back in the 20's , working as a bartender in a Parisian institution.

In the variant of the cocktail preparation recipe from Fernanda Petio, salt, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, Worcesters sauce and crushed ice are used. According to one of the versions, first the drink of Fernanda Petio was called "Red Snapper", but the customers began to call the cocktail "Bloody Mary".

Anyway, today we can talk about two main versions of the cocktail "Bloody Mary" (simplified and more complex), of course, the Petio variant is more interesting, although the simplistic one is not bad.

How is the Bloody Mary cocktail made?

First, pour the tomato juice into the glass (pure or with additives), and then in a special way with a knife (along the blade), pour the vodka in such a way that the layers do not mix. At the use of "Bloody Mary" in one case, first drink vodka, and immediately after it - tomato juice.

There are also other variants of regional-national names of a vodka-tomato drink (for example, the Polish name "Krvava Manka").

Simply season the tomato juice with 2-3 drops of garlic juice.
