Diet on the basis of separate nutrition arose after a long study of the principles of digestion and the combination of food. As a result, Sheldon divided all the products into groups by a combination, and also created a list of products unsuitable for combining.

Principles of Separate Nutrition

So, according to Sheldon, different foods must be digested in different environments, under the influence of different enzymes. The ingestion into the stomach of a "foreign" food for a particular enzyme suppresses its action. As a result, there is fermentation, food rot and the person is poisoned by toxins.

A separate diet suggests that the starchy vegetables, sweet fruits and sweets are digested in an alkaline medium. Protein food is digested in sour, nuts, cottage cheese, cheese, vegetable oils - in neutral.

With neutral products, you can combine either "acidic" or "alkaline". Alkaline and acidic can not be combined.

The opinions of dietitians regarding nutrition separately are radically opposite.

First, nutritionists-opponents believe that with prolonged separate nutrition, the human body simply loses the ability to simultaneously produce various enzymes, which means that it is almost impossible to return to normal mixed nutrition.

Secondly, there can be no rotting and poisoning with toxins, because the stomach produces hydrochloric acid, which kills all microorganisms. If this process does not occur, then a person has dysbacteriosis, but here a separate diet will not help.

Third, in nature there are absolutely separate food products containing either protein, either carbohydrates or fats. Exception is egg white and sugar.
