Moral consciousness

The problem of morality has worried humanity at all times, a lot of philosophical treatises have been devoted to this topic. But there is still no definitive opinion about the limits of moral behavior and what influences the development of moral consciousness. The complexity here is in a number of factors, the main one being the subjectivity of evaluating one's behavior. For example, Nietzsche argued that conscience (one of the moral values) is only needed for helpless people, strong personalities do not need it at all. So maybe you should not think about the morality of actions and just enjoy life? Let's try to figure this out.

Features of moral consciousness

In mathematics everything is subject to strict laws, but as soon as it comes to human consciousness, the whole hope for uniqueness evaporates instantly. One of the main features of moral consciousness has already been named above - this is subjectivity. So, for one culture, some things are normal, while for another one they are completely unacceptable, moreover, similar disagreements can occur among the bearers of some cultural values . It is worth recalling only the question of the moratorium on the death penalty, which caused such heated debates among representatives of one nationality. That is, each person can offer his opinion on the morality of this or that act. So on what does this difference in views depend? In this regard, many opinions were expressed - from the theory of genetic predisposition to any type of behavior to the full responsibility of the environment.

To date, a mixed version of these two versions is generally accepted. Indeed, genetics can not be completely ruled out, perhaps some people are already born with a predisposition to antisocial behavior. On the other hand, the formation of moral consciousness is greatly influenced by the environment, it is obvious that the values of the person who grew up in a financially secure family will differ from those of those who grew up in constant need. Also, the development of moral consciousness and the capacity for moral behavior will depend on the school, friends and other surroundings. As the maturation and formation of the personality, the influence of outsiders decreases, but in childhood and adolescence is very strong. This point in many respects explains the existence of so many stereotypes, laid down by our educators. Adult person to change views on life requires serious work on themselves, which not everyone can do.

All of the above makes it very difficult to assess the morality of this or that act, since for its objectivity it is necessary to have a developed moral consciousness not limited by prejudice. What is not so common is due to laziness and unwillingness to improve one's mind.
