Salted herring - this is almost the real pride of Holland. There, such fish are eaten for breakfast, and served for lunch and even for dinner, and even arrange small snacks with it. Salted her in a special way, right into the sea and the first barrel is sent personally to the Queen of the Netherlands. To try it out is real luck, especially for tourists, but for this it is necessary to go straight to Holland. But if you do not have such an opportunity, and really want to eat fish, do not worry, because today we will tell you how to prepare a herring in Dutch at home! Of course, we will not be able to salt it with you in a barrel, but in a bank, but, believe me, it will not be any worse!

So, to pickle herrings in Dutch, take the fish, unfreeze it and gut. Then we cut off the head with gills with a sharp knife, and cut the abdomen to the tail and gently clean out all the insides. After this, we make a shallow incision on the back and slowly remove the peel from both sides. Remove the fins, tail, take out the ridge and separate the herring into two halves. Finished fillets are cleaned from small bones and cut into pieces in width about 2 centimeters.

Lemon washed, wiped and shinkuyu thin circles. Carrots are processed and three on a large griddle, and chop the onion rings. Now take a clean jar and start spreading all the prepared products in layers: to the bottom throw a few rings of onions, then a bay leaf, a pinch of grated carrot, a slice of lemon, a pinch of sugar and pepper. After this, spread a uniform layer of herring and again in the same sequence is covered with a vegetable layer. We alternate all layers, periodically slightly pressing down, until we reach the top of the can. Then tightly close it with a lid and send it to the refrigerator for 3 days. Salted in this way, herring in Dutch, it turns out deliciously tender, sweet, juicy and tasty. When serving, lay the fish pieces in the herringbone, water a little with vegetable oil and slightly add salt if necessary.

In order to prepare marinated herring in Dutch, we clean the fish, cut off the head, tail, fins, we separate meat from bones and we cut it into fillets. Then cut into thin slices. Vegetables are processed: the bulb is shredded by half rings, and the carrot is cut into strips or grinded on a grater. Lemon washed, wiped dry with a towel and cut into half-lobules.

Next, take a clean half-liter jar, put on the bottom of a slice of lemon, onion, laurel and a bit of pepper. Cover the top with a layer of grated carrots and spread the herring. After that, alternate the layers until the container is completely filled. Now we cook marinade: pour filtered water into a saucepan, put it on a plate, bring it to a boil, throw the necessary amount of sugar, squeeze juice from the lemon, mix and boil. Then we fill our fish with it, close it with a lid, and after a day the herring is ready for consumption in Dutch. We serve it as a snack to potatoes or mashed potatoes.
