The Nobel Peace Center


The Nobel Peace Center is located in Oslo , Norway . This is a research center whose primary task is to follow Alfred Nobel's bequest and award an annual award to the Nobel Peace Prize laureates.

The building of the Nobel Peace Center

The Nobel Peace Center was opened in 2005 and it is located in a beautiful building of the former railway station. It was built in 1872, and before the "center" there the Center, it was restored. The project involved British architect David Adyaye. The windows offer a picturesque view of the bay, and the building itself stands next to the Town Hall Square.

What is interesting about the Center?

The Nobel Peace Center is often visited by tourists. There are several rooms here, each of which in its own way reveals the theme of the Nobel Prize and touches on an equally important theme of peace:

  1. The museum. All expositions are devoted to the history of the Nobel Prize. Here there is information about all laureates and their achievements, and some inventions are exhibits. But the greatest value is the exclusive information about Alfred Nobel and excerpts of the original speech of Martin Luther King Jr. under the title "I have a dream".
  2. Score. "Nobel shop" offers a unique range of goods - from souvenirs with humor to exclusive books. Immediately they sell ecological t-shirts, bags, watches and jewelry. In the jewelry department there are exclusive handmade ornaments. The bookshelves are crammed with unique books that somehow relate to the Nobel Prize, and many of them are not without humor.
  3. Restaurant Alfred. It is not surprising that he carries this name. Here work some of the best chefs in Norway, while the prices for meals are quite affordable, which does not allow you to pass by.
  4. School classes.
  5. Showroom. He reveals the theme of "The struggle for peace." Exhibits clearly demonstrate the grief of war and the importance of living in peace. Here, not only does this sick subject rise, but it also tells about the role of ordinary people in the struggle for peace on our planet.
  6. Club for events. This room is also devoted to the problem of military conflicts. It hosts various events dedicated to this problem and its solutions.
