Female vulva

The generalized concept of "female vulva" refers to external female genitourinary organs.

What does a female vulva look like?

  1. Pubic tubercle - the upper part of the female vulva, with a well-developed subcutaneous fat layer and pronounced hair.
  2. Lobok gradually turns into a pair of thickened skin folds - large labia. Their cylindrical shape can partially or completely hide the inner parts of the vulva.
  3. The labia minora are located between the large labia and slightly protrude above them. In some women, they perform significantly and look more developed. This fact is not a sign of vulval atrophy, but merely points to individual features of the structure of the genital organs.
  4. Clitoris "hides" at the upper base of the labia minora and is the title of the main erogenous zone of the female vulva.
  5. Down from the clitoris is the vestibule vestibule. This area of the vulva begins with the opening of the urethra, below is the entrance to the vagina, which is partially covered by the hymen or its remains. On both sides of the vaginal opening there are ducts of the Bartholin glands - they secrete a special secret that is so important for the normal course of the sexual intercourse.
  6. The vulva vulva ends in the perineum, it is defined in gynecology as the distance from the lower adhesion of the large labia to the anus.

Irritation of the vulva

Perhaps there is no woman who is not familiar with the symptoms of vulva irritation. Itching, burning, redness and swelling of the external genital organs give the woman a lot of inconvenience. Most often, irritation occurs as a consequence:

The vulva irritation almost always passes right after the elimination of the provoking factor. So, changing hygienic means, buying comfortable natural linen, temporary refusal to depilation, adequate treatment of thrush in most cases guarantees a quick recovery of the skin and mucous membrane of the female vulva.

Diseases of the vulva

One of the most common gynecological pathologies - vulvitis - inflammatory disease of the vulva. Inflammatory process occurs against the background of irritation of the vulva, to which a secondary bacterial infection joins.

Inflammation of the vulva manifests itself as very unpleasant symptoms:

Treatment of inflammation of the vulva does not do without antibiotics, as an auxiliary therapy used anti-allergic drugs, immunomodulators, local antibacterial treatment.

But inflammation is not the whole list of diseases of the female vulva. It also contains: atopic, allergic, contact dermatitis, various neurodermatites, lichen planus, psoriasis, vestibular papillomatosis, benign and malignant vulva.

A special place in the list of diseases of the vulva is kraurosis and leukoplakia - pathologies that cause its atrophic changes. Atrophy of the vulva is more often diagnosed in menopausal women against the background of a decrease in the level of estrogen. The processes of atrophy give the woman considerable inconveniences in the form of long (for many years) painful itching, against which neuro-psychological disorders often occur.

To treat atrophy of the vulva, many methods of conservative therapy are used, in particular laser radiation, cryodestruction, electrodestruction, but in case of their inefficiency, vulvar extirpation should be resorted to surgical excision of its affected areas.
