"Zebra" cake - recipe

For breakfast, lunch or an afternoon tea party at the weekend, it is good to cook for home and guests some pastries. And while not everyone wants to mess around for a long time. It is easy and quick to bake a simple and delicious "Zebra" cake, many variants of such recipes are known, the dough is usually cooked on sour cream and / or kefir or unsweetened yoghurt. Of course, to create a "zebra effect" we use cocoa powder or a kerob.

A mixture of chocolate. Mix in a separate container 2 tbsp. Spoons of sugar, vanilla or cinnamon, cocoa powder. Add 1 egg and a couple of spoons of sour cream. Mix and grind carefully (better mixer).

Dough. Sift the flour into a working bowl, add sugar, the remaining sour cream and 2 eggs, softened butter, cognac and soda. We knead the dough, the mixer is better.

We divide the dough into two parts (that is, we pour into different bowls). In one of the dishes add the chocolate mixture and mix thoroughly. Now we have a light and dark dough.

Lubricate the oil with a mold and pour a light dough into the spiral, and fill the gaps with chocolate. We wake up with nuts. Or in another way: pour a layer of light dough on the bottom, then nuts and a layer of chocolate on top, you can repeat. You can still make additional manipulations, for beautiful mixing of the layers, but do not mix completely. We bake the Zebra cake in the oven for about 45 minutes, the best temperature is about 220 ° C. Readiness is determined by the spreading aroma, color and structure of a crust and / or puncturing a match in the center (it should remain dry). After removing from the mold, pour the cupcake with cream or chocolate icing and sprinkle with nuts.

A recipe for a cream "Zebra" made of sour cream or thick unsweetened yogurt

Dissolve 1 tablespoon of gelatin in 50-80 ml of slightly warm boiled water, and leave for 40 minutes, then strain through a strainer. Mix gelatin solution with sour cream and 1 spoon of powdered sugar, season with rum with vanilla. Pour this mixture into two cups into one of them, add the cocoa powder mixed with the remaining sugar powder. We got a gentle sour cream (or yoghurt cream) of two colors. It remains beautiful to remove creams beautiful patterns on the surface of the cake "Zebra", lightly sprinkle it with nuts and put on an hour or two in the refrigerator.

By the way, if the cake turned out to be high, you can cut it from the side into two cakes, sprinkle the bottom cake with nuts, cover with cream, put the second on top and then work above the surface.

You can prepare the cake "Zebra" on kefir, approximately following the above-mentioned recipe (see above), simply replace sour cream with kefir. It is even better to cook on unsweetened yoghurt, so the cake turns out to be especially gentle and easy.
