Diet with ulcerative colitis

Ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory-dystrophic autoimmune disease that affects the mucous membrane in the large intestine. Both during and after the treatment, proper nutrition is necessary. In order not to interfere with the recovery process, it is important to adhere to a special diet for ulcerative colitis of the intestine.

What should be the diet for ulcerative colitis?

Ulcerative colitis requires a diet that is based on the principles of healthy fractional nutrition : all harmful, fried, fatty foods are prohibited, and should be fed 4-6 times a day in moderate portions. It is this type of food that allows the intestines to recover at a normal pace.

When cooking, you must use a light beef or fish broth. In this case, you need to ensure that enough protein is supplied with the food (especially the animal). It is known that many patients suffer from food allergy to milk protein, because of which all dairy products from the diet should be removed. The only exception is melted butter. Fresh bread, pies and sweets under strict prohibition.

Contraindicated in all foods that contain fiber: buckwheat, all vegetables and fruits. At the stage of remission, you can include broccoli, tomatoes, zucchini and carrots in limited quantities. In summer, it is desirable to add some berries and fruits.

It should be taken into account that intestinal motility increases on the background of the disease, therefore it is necessary to add to the diet those products that reduce it: these are kissels, viscous cereals, decoctions of bird cherry and blueberries. Soups of mucous consistency, black and green tea are also welcome.

All dishes must be taken not in hot and not in cold, but exclusively in a warm form.

Ulcerative colitis of the intestines: diet diet

With ulcerative colitis treatment and diet should be inseparable from each other. Consider an approximate diet for each day:

  1. Breakfast: rice porridge with melted butter and steam chop, tea.
  2. Second breakfast: 40 grams (small thin slice) of boiled beef and jelly.
  3. Lunch: potato soup, rice with minced meat, compote of dried fruits .
  4. Afternoon snack: tea with 1-2 breadcrumbs.
  5. Supper: steam cutlet with mashed potatoes, a cup of tea.
  6. Before going to bed: a baked apple.

Before you start using a diet, consult your doctor about whether it is appropriate in your particular case.
